The Faculty of Physics conducts high-standard research in Physics and Astrophysics, carried out by an academic staff in which 100% of faculty members hold doctoral degrees and participate in international research networks. Each year, a significant number of publications appear in high-impact international journals (ISI), accounting for approximately 10% of the total research output of the Pontificia Universidad Católica.
Its strong reputation in research not only reinforces its academic prestige but also attracts outstanding students and scholars.
The Institute of Physics conducts research in areas such as condensed matter (both experimental and theoretical), quantum optics, mathematical physics, high-energy physics, plasma physics, and medical physics.
The Institute of Astrophysics focuses on extragalactic astrophysics, stellar astrophysics, compact objects, supernovae, cosmology, exoplanets, and numerical simulations.
